Today is a milestone birthday for me, and while I’m not feeling old or panicking about my age, I’m feeling reflective about the first thirty years. When I think about what has enriched my life the most at this point it’s not hard to narrow it down. It’s the friends and family I have been blessed with in my life. You don’t get to choose your family, but if I could, I’d pick the exact one I have…every single time. I share the same sentiment about my friends, who are very much family to me. So here’s to another thirty years and embracing everything that comes along.

For this week’s One Piece, Three Ways I thought I would show you how I have been pairing one of my current closet favs, the peplum top. I love that this piece tucks in my waist in the most flattering way. It truly has been such a versatile item in my closet, and despite all of my long sleeved blouses and chunky sweaters, this top has been on repeat for some time.
Look 1 – Date Night
I absolutely love the ability to pair your peplum top with a skirt to create the illusion of a one-piece dress, and yet, you also have the option to pair it over top a dress to create a skirt/top combo. 
Look 2 – Afternoon Outing
Don’t let the peplum intimidate you from styling it any differently than you would a regular blouse. If you want to show it off, look for a blazer that has a higher cut that will allow the peplum to peek out from underneath. 
Look 3 – Casual Cocktails
One of my favorite pairings of the peplum is perhaps the most simple to put together. Skinny pant, (in any color), detailed belt and sky-high pumps. This is the perfect look for dinner out, an art show or cocktails with the girls.

There are certain eras of fashion that really speak to me. The 50s in all of it’s cinched waist, full skirted glory is one of those eras. So it’s needless to say that when I came across this very 50s-esqe skirt, it had to be mine. I love the femininity of this look, and how, despite the theory of it, the abundance of fabric is so incredibly flattering. This outfit is definitely worthy of a fabulous night out, and a few twirls too.

When spring is taking it’s sweet time getting here, sometimes you just have to throw on a short skirt in spite of the potentially inappropriate weather. So was the case the other day when my skirts were woefully peering up at me, begging to see the light of day. It’s nice to have a transitional piece such as a short wool skirt that allows you to venture into a chilly spring with the warmth of winter wool. I can’t wait until wearing a skirt won’t be an option, but a necessity due to the warm weather.

I seem to have moments of utter loss for words when a print speaks to me, especially when it’s a floral. I’m not quite sure why such a strong reaction takes over, but the minute I spied this floral blazer I knew I had fallen, hard. Spring is just around the corner, and I’m going to meet it covered in navy + plum floral. I can’t wait to wear it paired with my spring dresses, but for now it will have to serve double duty keeping me warm until the snow melts.
