Blazer Brilliance
Alice + Olivia Blouse, Diane von Furstenberg Skirt, Smythe Blazer(or here), Manolo Blahnik Pumps, Balenciaga Handbag (different color here and here), Michael Kors Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet
I know that I’ve already talked about my obsession with blazers this past week…but the truth is I have zero self control when it comes to these things. And in a moment of weakness, and complete support from a couple of dear girlfriends, this metallic blazer somehow ended up following me home, wrapped neatly in tissue to boot. I must note that I initially walked away the first time I tried it on. I wasn’t even considering purchasing it. But upon second review I determined how many places we could go together, of all the other pieces of clothing for this blazer to be-friend in my closet. It was completely obvious that I had overlooked it the first time. And so, this is where you can feel sorry for my man, and at the same time freely use my rationalizations to make your own sordid purchases. I promise I won’t judge.
Bright White
Equipment Blouse, Rag & Bone Jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Coat, Rag & Bone Booties, Celine Handbag, Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet, Stella & Dot Bracelet
There truly is nothing better than being able to throw on a gorgeous, light weight trench and head out the door, not a mitten to worry about. I love that I live in a city that experiences all four seasons, even if not all of them get equal play time. When the seasons change I get so inspired to clean the dust out of every corner in the house, car and closets. It’s a fresh start, and I become so motivated to tackle items that have been on my to-do list for much too long. Here’s to a spring filled with cleaning out those winter cobwebs.
Spring Stripes
Alice + Olivia Dress, Prada Belt (similar here and here), Burberry Trench (similar here and here), Manolo Blahnik Pumps, Chanel Handbag, Swarovski Earrings, David Yurman Bracelet, Hermes Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet
I love how striking stripes look, especially in the context of a work appropriate ensemble. I immediately knew this dress was coming home with me the moment I laid eyes on it. It has the look of multiple layers combined into one easy piece. Making it perfect for throwing on while running out the door on a busy weekday morning. The fact it’s black and white means there’s unlimited options for accessorizing it, giving it a fresh new look every time. I see the two of us banking many hours together this spring.
Book Club – The Talent Code
One of the things I look forward to the most each month is hosting my book club. I host by a vote of unanimous decision selfishly appointing myself as hostess, every month, indefinitely, always trying to match the food and decor to the theme or feel of the book. It’s such a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon, surrounded by fabulous ladies, tasty treats, and intellectual conversation…discussing what you’re really going to do with your lotto winnings is imperative. These ladies brighten my month and this kind of good clean fun is just like chicken soup for the soul.
Pink and Navy
Joie Blouse, Rag & Bone Denim, IRO Leather Jacket, Manolo Blahnik Pumps, Chanel Handbag, Anzie Earrings, Pandora Bracelet, Hermes Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet
There’s no color I love more than pink, and no color combo that makes me swoon the way navy and pink do when paired together. I find that navy and pink do a brilliant job of softening the complexion, and make even the palest of skin look bright and vibrant. The snow is finally melting in Calgary, and I plan to have a relaxing weekend with friends and family, after a week that seemed to drag on forever. This has definitely felt like the longest winter in a while, and the untypical overcast skies have been more than slightly depressing. So I’m going to do all I can to enjoy this weekend, probably by drowning out the weather with a cocktail or three.
