Key Lime Ice Cream Sandwiches
I’ve mentioned before that ice cream is one of my favorite food groups, yes, to me it represents an entire group. So basically anything that incorporates ice cream earns major points in my book. While multi-step recipes can be overwhelming, I recently purchased the book, I Scream Sandwich, and the thought of recreating a homemade key lime flavored version seemed like a reasonable challenge. I can’t describe to you how delicious these little sandwiches turned out, the perfect mix of tangy, cool ice cream paired with sweet, crunchy sugar cookie. I’ve already tagged at least half the recipes in the book to make throughout the summer.
Candy Apple Red
Tibi Dress (last seen here), Rebecca Minkoff Blazer (different color here), Christian Louboutin Pumps (similar here), Chanel Handbag, Michael Kors Watch, David Yurman Bracelet, Stella & Dot Bracelet
I mentioned last week that in looking for some inspiration I turned to my old friend, the color wheel. It’s so easy to reach for neutrals, especially with black and white being such a big trend right now, and sometimes we forget about all the wonderful colors in our closets. Green and red are opposites on the color wheel and therefore look the brightest and most vibrant when paired together. I decided that my Tibi dress would look fab paired with a pop of candy apple red, and my blazer was the perfect compliment. I challenge you all to go outside your comfort zone this weekend and play with a little bit of color. In the highly unlikely circumstance that it doesn’t work out, exasperatedly explain that you got dressed in the dark.
Polka Dot Baby Shower
This past weekend I hosted a Meet and Greet for my brand new, gorgeous niece, Quinn. It was a ladies luncheon, so I made sure there was an abundance of two things that ladies love, candy and wine. It all started with a polka dot wine glass, with the idea of a candy buffet soon following, and was topped off by a delicious polka dot cake by the fabulous Natasha of Cakes with Attitude. Each lovely lady took home a bottle of nail polish, (because who doesn’t love a fabulous take home?) and as much candy as I could force them to fit in their handbags. It was a lovely afternoon catching up with the most wonderful group of ladies, and we resisted the urge to push one another down the stairs acted like perfect ladies while waiting out turn to snuggle with the guest of honor.
Black and Yellow
Aritzia Babaton Dress, Rag & Bone Jacket (different color here), Yves Saint Laurent Sandals, Yves Saint Laurent Clutch, Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet, Pandora Bracelet
One of the things I forgot while living away from Calgary was the transition from hot summer days to cool, crisp evenings. You may think of this as a disadvantage, but really it’s not. It simply means that carrying a fab jacket to dinner is a must. Throwing a fun jacket over top of a muted dress is a great way to add a pop of color and texture. My varsity jacket has been my go-to this spring and summer, and I have a feeling it’s going to be sticking around well into fall as well.
A-Line
Prada Dress (similar here), Prada Flats (similar here and here), Chanel Handbag, Lisbeth Necklace, Michael Kors Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet, La Vie Parisienne Earrings
This past weekend was a whirlwind of events, and it was so lovely to be surrounded by family and friends old and new. Sunday afternoon was spent catching up and grabbing dinner, and after a weekend of overindulging in cake, candy, waffles…you get the idea, a no-fuss, a-line dress was exactly what I needed. What I love most about summer is the ease of throwing on a dress with some great accessories and heading out the door. I would definitely consider this look my summer uniform, I’m just wishing we could dress like this all year long.
