Every now and then I need to force myself out of my dessert box to try something new, more specifically, flavors other than chocolate. So when I came across this recipe for Rose Water and Raspberry Cupcakes, I was curious enough to give it a go. The result was a fluffy, sugary confection with a floral essence. I’m already envisioning them at a future tea party or luncheon, altering the glaze to match the color of the decor. I’m confident that I would be able to convince even the most dedicated of chocolate lovers to give them a go.

It’s that tricky time of year when the fall fashions are hitting the stores, but the current weather is the warmest it’s been all summer long. I’ve never been one to put off my fall fashion purchases in August (shocking, I know) but this year I’ve decided to make a better effort of transitioning my summer pieces into fall looks. I’ve been rocking these cobalt shorts all summer long, but have decided they look best paired with my leather jacket and suede booties. It’s funny how a print can work with your state of mind. Dark, moody prints tend to read as more edgy, while bright and cheerful prints play to my lighter side. So naturally I was drawn to this dress, with it’s vibrant distorted hearts, and just knew that wearing it on a sunny afternoon would guarantee a fabulous day. Summer is slowly rapidly starting to slip away, but with pops of pink and orange and I’ll try and hold on to it for as long as I can.

Calgary had the perfect quintessential summer weather this past weekend, and I was basking in the beauty of it almost the entire weekend. I love the late weeks in summer when the realization that fall is quickly approaching is blocked out by bike rides, drinks on the patio and summer runs in the early morning hours. I’ve already pulled out some of my fall clothing, but until the breeze gets crisp, I plan on rocking my short skirts and sky high heels.
