Dressed in Black
Kain Tee, Rag & Bone Jeans, Vince Sweater, H by Hudson Booties, Proenza Schouler Handbag, Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet
I received my first taste of true fall-like weather in YYC yesterday, and it would be an understatement to say that I was beyond thrilled. The air is crisp enough to demand an outer layer, yet not too harsh as to fret about parkas, toques or mittens. It’s easy to see why this is my favorite season, both fashion and weather wise. There’s so much to look forward to this time of year, with Christmas Canadian Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas Halloween following soon after that, it’s an entertainer’s dream.
Muted Print
Aritzia Dress (similar here), Saint Laurent Pumps, Chanel Handbag, Tiffany Necklaces, Hermes Watch
There are various items in my closet that have a certain longevity that other pieces just can’t compete with. My muted leopard print shirt dress would be the poster child for such a case. I’ve had it for years now, but the classic style, print and fit allow me to reach for it time and time again. Classic doesn’t have to mean boring, unless we’re talking literature it’s really just good sense.
Slouchy Trousers
A.L.C. Tank, Joie Pants, Helmut Lang Blazer (similar here), Jimmy Choo Pumps (similar here and here), Chanel Handbag, Hermes Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet
I’m not normally someone who is drawn to pants that add volume to my lower half, so I had serious doubts about this whole slouchy trouser business. The comfort of these pants alone is enough to keep me in them all fall long, and though they may have more fabric than my skinny jeans, they’re just as flattering, sans muffin tops (I’m talking elastic waist here ladies). What more could a girl ask for.
Silver Sequins
Alice + Olivia Blouse (different color here), Alice + Olivia Skirt, Manolo Blahnik Pumps, Proenza Schouler Handbag, Tiffany Necklaces, Hermes Watch, Stella & Dot, David Yurman Bracelet
I tend to prefer to save my metallic pieces for the holidays, however, every now and then there are certain pieces that need not be reserved for special occasions. Such is the case with my silver sequin skirt. It’s jazzy enough to get me through the holiday season, but when paired with a classic blouse and pumps, it lends itself to meetings and management. Now, how many others in your closet can really say the same for themselves?
Navy is the New Black
Club Monaco Dress (last seen here), Vince Leather Jacket, Jimmy Choo Boots, Chanel Handbag, Ralph Lauren Sunglasses, Tiffany Earrings, Michael Kors Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet
When fall arrives in Calgary I tend to push all other colors aside in favor of my long-standing relationship with neutrals, more specifically, black and brown. So you can imagine my excitement that while shopping around I have noticed an abundance of my favorite neutral hue of navy. What’s so fab about navy, you might ask. Well, not only does it make your complexion look flawless, it lends itself to as much versatility as it’s cousin black, while still providing the wearer with some much needed color. If you were hesitating last year, it’s definitely time to get on board with a little navy this fall season.
