Fall Accessories
Scarves – 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 Hosiery – 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 Gloves – 10 /11 / 12 / 13 Hats – 14 / 15 / 16
Sometimes keeping up with the trends from season to season can be not only daunting, but exhausting too. So if you’re feeling a bit frazzled by the thought of what purchases to make this fall, I suggest heading straight to the accessories department. Instead of overhauling the closet, why not add in a fabulous scarf or those to-die-for leather gloves. There are so many options at all different price points, and not only will they create a new look when added to the pieces in your closet, they’ll also aid in keeping you warm this winter. Hello practicality, it’s nice to finally meet you.
Two Toned
Equipment Blouse (similar here), 7 For All Mankind Pants, Manolo Blahnik Pumps, Celine Handbag, Michael Kors Watch, Stella + Dot Bracelet, Links of London Bracelet
The past few seasons have shown incredibly exciting options in the pant department. And while I see other gals walking around in fab prints and punchy colors, I tend to stick within my box a bit more. So when I discovered this two-toned pair at my favorite Calgary boutique, I knew that they were the right mix of edgy and conservative. Don’t even get me started on how flattering they are, I may never stop.
Layer Up
Equipment Blouse (similar here), Alice + Olivia Cardigan, Alice + Olivia Blazer, Rag & Bone Denim, Valentino Boots, Chanel Handbag
When the temperature starts heading south there’s nothing you can do but layer up. Calgary is known to be a city of extreme and unpredictable weather, and the only way to stay above the fray is by having multiple items that work with one another. Blouse, cardigan and blazer were my top picks yesterday on a blustery fall morning. The most satisfying feeling is when you nail it, by which I mean, I was comfortable early in the day and down to just the blouse by late afternoon. All I can really say is, well played Mikki, well played.
Autumn Gathering
Book club took a bit of a back seat this summer as the months seemed to flash by. I thought I would ease our little readers back in to the swing of things by creating a perfectly autumn menu, and not shaming those who hadn’t finished the summer reading list (which was none most of us). A crisp fall day called for homemade Cream of Tomato Soup, mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Spiced Pumpkin Layer Cake. While there may not have been an abundance of book discussion, catching up with fabulous friends over a slice of cake is best.
Menswear Inspired
Club Monaco Top (similar here), J Brand Jeans, Theory Coat, Rag & Bone Booties, Chanel Handbag, Chanel Watch, Charriol Bracelet
This season is all about borrowing from the boys in the outerwear department. Oversized menswear-inspired coats are not only chic but practical too. I found this coat while in Seattle recently, and it was surprisingly capable of keeping out that impossibly damp cold. I’m beginning to think that those boys may be on to something.
