Chocolate Baileys Cupcakes
I love the tradition of the holidays, the familiarity and comfort in performing certain activities with friends and family. Trimming the tree, baking and decorating sugar cookies, making homemade perogies and sitting down for a viewing of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation with my family. Sometimes I get so caught up in my love of these traditions that I forget to look outside the box and try something new. So in an effort to mix things up I decided to give this recipe for Chocolate Baileys Cupcakes a go, and it did not disappoint. Paired with a piping hot cup of coffee, this little piece of deliciousness offers a little boozy buzz in the form of one of my favourite baked goods. Wondering how you’ll get through the holidays…I think I just told you.
Statement Skirt
Club Monaco Top (similar here), Alice + Olivia Skirt, Spanx Tights, Saint Laurent Pumps, Saint Laurent Clutch (different color here), Escada Scarf, Vintage Chanel Necklace, Tiffany Earrings, Michael Kors Watch, Stella & Dot Bracelet
When the holidays roll around everyone starts the hunt for the perfect party dress. Too frequently however, a festive statement skirt is overlooked, often deemed ‘too fussy’ in comparison to the ease of a dress. I’d like to disagree, politely of course, with this viewpoint. Pairing almost any skirt with black tights, heels and blouse is a surefire way to create a holiday worthy look. I know that I’ll get multiple wears from this skirt, and wear it from holiday party to dinner out with the girls to Sunday brunch with the family. Tell me, how can you argue with that logic.
Embellished
Equipment Blouse, Needle & Thread Sweater (different color here), Rag & Bone Denim, Valentino Boots, Chanel Handbag, Swarovski Earrings
While I love getting gussied up, perhaps more than the average individual, there are moments when my body demands something comfortable. Which is why when I saw this beautifully embellished sweat shirt, I realized it was the best of both worlds. It’s so lovely adding some warmth to my ensemble, especially this time of year, and it’s even more satisfying when you don’t have to forego looks in place of comfort. No need to add any statement jewellery my friends, it’s already built in. Getting up and dressed in the dark this time of year has never been so easy.
Brandy Alexander
When the weather is this cold outside (and heck, even when it isn’t), it’s nice to curl up by the fire and sip on something that warms you up from the inside out. I recently purchased the book Winter Cocktails and came across a recipe for the classic, creamy Brandy Alexander recipe. I wouldn’t consider myself a brandy gal by nature, but after a tasting night out with Courvoisier, I discovered how versatile it actually is for mixing in drinks. Although this is a cold beverage, it packs a punch, and will keep you warm from après ski to post shovelling the sidewalk, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
