Sometimes I tend to get in a baking rut. For weeks on end it’s all cupcakes and cookies, and I seem to simply deny that there may other categories of deliciousness out there. Luckily for me, my fabulous big sis gifted me the Butter Baked Goods book, and since then I’ve been branching out like you wouldn’t believe. First up on the list, the Vunder Bars, packed with chocolate wafer crumbs, peanut butter, chocolate, oats, Rice Krispies and butter. Not only were they a total cinch, they were so completely delicious. I can’t wait to bake my way through the rest of the book.

I spent this past weekend out on the West Coast catching up with some of the most wonderful women in my life. Brunch, sleepovers, pyjama parties, dinner out, drinks in and a whole lot of girl talk. I drove past my old townhouse, spent some time in the neighbourhood where I lived and reminisced about ‘old times’. I can’t explain how just how good a weekend like this is for the soul and I’ve since promised to make my way out more than once a year.

Typically when my hemline goes up so does my heel height. I have, however, found the perfect flat that trumps that theory, and no matter what the hem height, pairing my ensemble with these studded flats is a win every time. With tights during the winter months, and bare legs in the summer, I’m already envisioning them with a fab pair of silk shorts come spring. Oh how I do love when my fashion mingles with practicality.

I’m all about trying new things, in fashion that is, otherwise trying anything new is more like a bad scene from the national budget debate. That’s the fantastic thing about fashion though, it’s not too serious that you have to worry about making an incorrect decision every now and again when putting yourself out there to try something new. I’ve loved these crossover denim pants for a while now, but only recently decided to give them a go. I’ve received a ton of comments and it’s approximately a 50/50 split on the love/hate register. Good thing my vote is the only one that currently counts, and I’m 110% into them.
With the vast amount of Seahawks football that I took in during the month of January, I somehow managed to neglect my book club hosting duties. For February I amped up the sweetness factor in an effort to win over the lovely ladies of the club, and with Valentine’s Day taking place a couple of days prior, it had a decidedly ‘pink and red’ flavour to it. All of our sweet treats were titled after key messages from our January read, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. Fabulous conversation, tasty treats, and loads of laughs, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Sunday.
