The Christmas season is in full swing, with an abundance of parties and gatherings this past weekend, and gearing up for another week filled with events, it was nice to have some down time on Sunday to recoup. I spent Sunday cheering on my Seahawks, catching up on things around the house, and baking cookies to decorate later in the week. The countdown is on, and this year the only thing missing is a fresh batch of snow.
Short Skirt, Tall Boots

It’s hard to believe it’s only 15 days until Christmas. It seems as though I wait all year round for this special season to get here, and then before I know it, it’s over. The next two weeks are filled with so many amazing activities. There are parties scheduled, delicious dinners to be eaten, tea time with the girls and of course, a trip to the theatre for A Christmas Carol. The best part of it all you ask, the fact that I get to dress up for each occasion, obviously.
Ripped Denim
Current/Elliot Denim, Alice + Olivia Shirt, Club Monaco Leather Jacket (similar here), LE CHÂTEAU Booties, Loeffler Randall Handbag (different color here, larger size here), Rag & Bone Hat
While this time of year is my favourite, (what other time of year are sequins, sparkles and metallics not only acceptable at every outing, but encouraged?) sometimes a girl needs to step away from the glitz. Ripped denim, a cozy plaid shirt and a leather jacket are just the right juxtaposition to all of glam that overtakes my ensembles during the month of December.
Casual Suit

I feel as though one of the biggest struggles women have these days is the conundrum of work wear versus casual wear. It’s hard to invest money into casual wear when you can’t wear it to work and vice versa. I love the concept of separates that function for both the office and play. These black slacks are office appropriate, but paired with leopard flats, a fabulous sweater and a top knot, you’ve got the perfect brunch ensemble. Each piece of this outfit can be worn for an array of occasions, so it makes sense to invest a little more into classic separates. It’s a perfect time of year to put something fab on your Christmas list, am I right?
Top It With a Coat
BCBG MAXAZRIA Dress (old, similar here), Alice + Olivia Coat (similar here), Commando Knee Socks, Valentino Booties (also here), Diane von Furstenberg Clutch (similar here), Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet
I love the idea of outerwear functioning not just as the outmost layer to keep you warm, but as a fashion piece that compliments your ensemble. In a city like Calgary, where winter lasts nearly six months of the year, it can be hard to keep your look fresh, not frumpy. In an effort to keep my winter ensemble fashion forward I found a classic coat dress that can be paired with everything from jeans and boots to tights and stilettos. Trading out my winter parka for my coat dress will definitely help keep those winter blues at bay until warmer weather gets here.
