Funfetti Cupcakes
Three years ago I encountered a baking blog that absolutely blew me away. As a lover of all baked goods, with an extra special love of cakes, this little space in the internet was a dream come true. The blog was Sweetapolita, the baker behind it was Rosie Alyea, and, drumroll please, she has just released her very own book, The Sweetapolita Bakebook: 75 Fanciful Cakes, Cookies & More to Make & Decorate. I was lucky enough to receive said book for my birthday this past month and I promise to bake my way through the entire book, starting right at the beginning, with Funfetti Cupcakes. These little cakes of deliciousness were a huge hit and I can’t wait to tackle the next recipe.

It’s been a deliciously good and busy week, which is why my poor blog has been so neglected. Thankfully it’s winding down and there are plans for some much needed down time. I had a tonne of running around to do yesterday, and since it was such an early start, the thought of climbing straight into something tight and binding was just not an option. I have to say, these dressed up joggers are basically a dream come true. Case-in-point, throwing on some glitzy jewels and trading in the sneaks for pumps would have allowed me to take this ensemble straight from day to happy-hour drinks. We should probably have a beverage to celebrate that fact.

It’s Friday, it’s absolutely gorgeous outside, the Calgary Flames play their second playoff game tonight, and did I mention, it’s Friday?! There’s something so invigorating about waking up to a blue sky and sunshine on a spring morning. I have a weekend filled with the ‘A’ list of peeps and a treasure trove of various activities. After a week spent working my little tail off, I’m so ready to enjoy myself and the gorgeous weather. Wishing you all a fabulous Friday and an wonderful weekend.
Glamping Ensembles
Last week I got to spend some time with the fabulous folks of Trending On Shaw, talking everything glamping. For those of you who have yet to hear of the term, it’s camping but done in a much more fabulous way, hence the need for upgraded camping ensembles. We had an amazing panel that included myself, Lidy Dipert of Hello Lidy, Misty Hamel of Life Where We Are, and the wonderful Ryan Massel of immrfabulous.com co-hosting. Overall I believe it was established that between a cozy campfire set-up, ridiculously delicious margaritas and elegant ensembles, who wouldn’t want to embark on a glamping getaway this spring?!

It’s Friday and I can’t contain my excitement for the weekend. With a week that was filled to the brim with sewing and design projects, blogging activities and a small television appearance, I’m ready to kick up my feet with a glass of vino and an episode of Dateline. (Yes, I just admitted to watching Dateline… religiously I might add.) It was one of those weeks that leaves you feeling satisfied and appreciative of everything in life. Here’s to a weekend that’s filled with much of the same… but nothing too sinister (Dateline reference…I can’t help it, I’m addicted).
