White After Labor Day
J. Crew Shirt, Club Monaco Skirt, Christian Louboutin Pumps, Yves Saint Laurent Clutch (different color), Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet, Chan Luu Bracelet
Well, it’s official, Labor Day has come and gone and fall is upon us. I tried to sneak as much white as possible into my wardrobe this past weekend. It’s not even that I’m superstitious about the whole white after Labor Day situation, it just feels wrong. All of those cozy sweaters, the aubergines and the chocolates, all waiting so patiently to get some street time. I still associate this time of year with the excitement and anticipation of headed back to school. And because I’m heading to NYC for a conference this week, it feels even more so. It also means I’ll have to do a little shopping for some ‘back-to-conference’ outfits.
Bracelet Organization
There comes a point in time when you realize your current organizational routine is not working. That came for me when I couldn’t find a particular bracelet in a pile of bracelet road kill. I knew I had to do something about it, and the idea came from the packaging of my watch. It had it’s own little pillow that it was wrapped around to keep its shape. What a tremendous difference it has made, both in the organizational sense as well as the eye candy sense. Now I know exactly where everything is at all times. Except when I forget to put things back, one thing at a time around here.
Trench Coat Coverage
Tibi Dress, Burberry Trench Coat (similar here), Manolo Blahnik Pumps (similar here), Chanel Handbag, Tiffany Earrings, Michael Kors Watch, Chan Luu Bracelet, David Yurman Bracelet
While part of me is mourning the end of summer, another part is celebrating the return of my fall wardrobe. One item in particular that I was overjoyed to see was my classic trench coat. It goes with literally everything, offers warmth from the crisp fall breeze and I swear takes inches off my waist. It’s such an essential piece in my fall ensemble. I’m already envisioning it with boots, leggings, sweaters and scarves. The best thing of all is that because it’s a classic it will never go out of style… how’s that for justification of a purchase.
Mocha Cupcakes with Coffee Icing
There have been many times along the way that I’ve renounced coffee. I’ve declared that I’ve quit the team, and even made it through the three-day long excruciating headaches of pure caffeine withdrawal. But I always go back for more. I mean what is brunch without a cup of coffee. I’ve never met up with friends for a soda at the soda shop. So when I came across this recipe from the Martha Stewart Cupcakes cookbook, I knew it was destiny that I try it out. I used this coffee flavored icing recipe, and the combination was heavenly. I may even opt to have one for breakfast with my coffee tomorrow morning, and maybe one for lunch, and everyone needs an afternoon pick-me-up…
Last Days of Summer
Aritzia Blouse, Pencey Skirt, Chanel Handbag, Christian Louboutin Pumps, Tom Ford Sunglasses, Lisbeth Necklace, Hermes Watch, David Yurman Bracelet
We’ve truly had a beautiful summer in Calgary this year. As the days start getting shorter, the September issues are hitting stands and I will sadly be packing away my flirty skirts and delicate dresses for another year. I started packing away out of season clothing last year and find it so helpful to have only one season worth of clothing in my closet at a time. So while I’m sad about it now, I know that next year when I’m unpacking my summer goods, all those vibrant prints and silk fabrics will have me doing hypothetical cartwheels. And maybe even a literal cartwheel, with supervision of course.
